Mietta's Review
So, at last, some meaningful breakfast competition for Bill's. It's found in this sandstone building with acute (and colourful) modern touches and manifests itself in a most relaxed and irreverent manner. The off Oxford location provides a colourful clientele that would be described as alternative if such a word could be used in conjunction with anyone rich enough to live in Darlinghurst. They elicit cheeful friendly service from the like minded staff. Food is excellent, and unlike Bills, often cooked. Slightly unusual combinations piled high on the plate, come at reasonable prices, are clean and have flavours that work together. And, the coffee's good too. This is a place where the times and the taste are both good.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 13.5/20

Gourmet Traveller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide "If you were looking for a blueprint for the perfect neighbourhood restaurant, you could do a lot worse than this rough-hewn sandstone hot spot. A smart breakfast menu spools out into a crowd-pleasing lunch, service is prompt and attentive, and wine is better than you might expect"

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "Locals crowd this popular jack-of-all-trades on weekend mornings for soul-satisfying croques monsieur or homey baked beans"

Sydney Eats 2008 "Long the site of much-loved cafe Doy, this is now one of the major contenders for high-end dining in this part of town"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 14/20

Gourmet Traveller 2007 Restaurant Guide "It's a restaurant of moods, this one. Breakfast against the backdrop of open glass and sandstone walls runs to the sunny likes of fresh figs and ricotta on toast and an excellent BLAT. Lunches are marked by shanks-and-mash tedium, but then sheer curtains are drawn around the walls, the night crew comes on and the place is transformed into a chic neighbourhood bistro where the food is far from mundane."
