Mietta's Review
For those who enjoy people watching, this is a perfect place to enjoy a drink and tapas at the bar. Service is prompt and there is a fair wine list. The room is big with a high ceiling, bright, boldly coloured walls and cement floor. The hard surfaces give it a cold feel and make it noisy but the large curved bar allows the fashion conscious to see and be seen. A good scene.

Other published opinions

Courier Mail Anooska Tucker-Evans, 31-8-2008 "GOING to a bar for lunch is not always the best of ideas. It's far too easy to settle in and not notice the passage of time. Enjoying a few drinks and a meal with friends, before long the so-called lunch has turned into dinner. On a recent visit to Hotel Bravo in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, it took all my willpower not to let that happen"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 14/20 "It doesn't really matter what your bent is, Hotel Bravo will have something to suit. Capably operated by a bevy of beautiful young things, it has a formidable drinks list (cocktails, rare spirits and a multifaceted wine list) and a European-inspired menu that is divecse and occasionally eclectic"

Courier Mail Brett Debritz, 20-5-2007 "Who goes there: young white-collar typesBeers on tap: none, but plenty in bottlesFood: a small but exquisite menu

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Here is a St Germain-inspired bistro with a street-side courtyard around an expansive bar"

Courier Mail Alison Walsh, 20--06 Food 14 Wine 16 Service 14 Ambience 15 The Score 15 "As part of its makeover, Hotel Bravo has decided on a French accent in areas other than its name. Some French staff have been employed, including our waitress, and the menu is dotted with French dishes, although overall it has quite a multicultural tone. Head chef Colin Brown has devised a menu offering 15 main courses that cover everything from linguine to risotto, wild kangaroo rump, seared Moroccan spiced salmon and Grimaud duck with raspberry jus. The aim seems to be to ensure there is something for everyone, and that's without even looking at the tapas menu."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 "In the middle of Brunswick St, Bravo is both a restaurant and a buzzing bar and the two spaces are separated by a large oval-shaped bar that opens on all sides. Bi-fold windows open the full length of the restaurant along the street at waist height and a spacious covered terrace hangs off the front"

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Bravo is an ideal place for watching the Valley crowd. Chef Colin Brown (also at neighbouring Monsoon) is inspired by the Mediterranean, Mexico and California."

Brisbane Mail Natascha Mirosch 18/5/05 score 7/10 "Bravo Wine Bar and Bistro could practically be considered an old timer after almost seven years in Fortitude Valley. It's the kind of place that offers something different to everyone - a laid-back people-watching bar or a late nightspot, but for me, it's always been a reliable eatery with the bonus of rare-as-hen's-teeth Valley parking. Bravo's decor is warm, bright and vaguely Mediterranean, with seating inside and out on a terrace. The menu is modern Australian with a side trip to our Asian neighbours as well as a brief nod to Europe and the Middle East. Instead of entrees, it offers tapas, which are great as a prelude to dinner or just with drinks. "

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "Since opening more than six years ago this combination of bistro and wine bar has remained a consistent performer in both areas. Overlooking Brunswick St, with waist-high windows opening out on to the footpath and a terrace off to one side, it is a well-loved watering hole for inner-city dwellers and a central meeting place"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "A Valley hotspot, Bravo has great tapas that can be enjoyed with any one of a host of well-known wines. Chef Colin Brown's extended menu is similarly appealing."
