Mietta's Review
Funkier than the first, Fortitude's Freestyle still provides the wonderful desserts and sundaes that the Rosali version is famous for. There are light meals available too. You can eat in, prop at the bar or take-away Brissie's best desserts. In 06 mains averaged $19. Also at 21 Nash St Rosalie Ph: 3876 2288.

Other published opinions

Courier Mail Anooska Tucker-Evans, 18-10-2008 "FOR more than a decade, Martin Duncan has been catering to the sweet-tooths of Brisbane with his dessert cafes Freestyle Tout. While the original cafe at Rosalie, in Brisbane's inner west, is no more after the building was pulled down last year, his second cafe in Fortitude Valley continues to draw an impressive crowd keen for their dose of calorific indulgence. The cafe is bright and fun with splashes of red contrasting against dark, intense walls; plenty of funky artwork (that's often for sale); and bifolding, aluminium windows that open out on to the Emporium shopping and dining precinct"

Brisbane Times Score: 11/20 "Freestyle Tout makes no secret of the fact its specialty is dessert (although it has a relatively basic lunch and dinner set menu)"

Courier Mail Tonya Turner, 06-5-2008 Score: Food: 16 Wine: 14 Service: 15 Ambience: 14 Value For Money: 16 "A RESTAURANT with no fewer than 21 desserts on its menu is my kind of place. But, while Freestyle Tout has always been famed for its calorific sweets, the arrival of chef Nicholas Cooper has shifted the focus slightly to the mains menu. Perched on the corner of the Emporium complex, on Ann St, Freestyle Tout is filled with natural light from its floor-to-ceiling windows. Tables for two are lined up with cushioned benches on one side and soft red stools on the other"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 "When Martin Duncan opened his second venue a few years ago, he used splashes of red and chocolate and sleek concrete floors to give it a contemporary feel"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Under the direction of the irrepressible Martin Duncan, this sister cafe to the original at Rosalie carries on the tradition of delicious desserts and desirable art"

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 "Owner Martin Duncan's newest Freestyle follows the success of his dessert cafe at Rosalie. The venue has concrete floors, is surrounded by glass and the chairs offer a splash of bright red colour."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Life is always sweet at Freestyle Tout, but Martin Duncan's venture at Emporium offers more than the wonderful temptations that built his reputation at Rosalie."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "It's a funked up version of the original, and as well as selling those tempting tarts and tortes the Rosalie cafe is famous for, this one is dishing up tasty tapas"
