Mietta's Review
Isis just looks better as time goes by. Nice woven cane barricades protect diners on the footpath while those in the cool dark interior sit at bare tables with luxurious linen serviettes. Yhe small and well considered menu offers diners a chance to enjoy a meal of good quality at reasonable prices in the busy New Farm area. A smart new bar was added downstairs in 2005. In 06 mains averaged $31.

Other published opinions

Brisbane Times Score: 16/20 "A decade on, attention to detail still sets Isis apart from the plethora of eateries along the bustling Brunswick Road strip. This is a classy brasserie, the sophistication reflected in the dark timbers, soft and funky lighting, leather chairs and double-cloth'd tables"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 17/20, Two Hats "Consistency is something many restaurants strive for and never achieve. Isis is not one of them. Chef Jason Peppler has gradually taken the menu to new levels of innovation and quality over his seven-year tenure in the gorgeous, moodily lit brasserie on a busy corner of Fortitude Valley"

Brisbane News 31-10-6 Score: Food 9, Wine 9, Service 9, Ambience 8.5 "It was a horrible situation to be in: I found myself flustered. I needed to make a choice, and I needed to make it quickly, but the more I thought about it, the more evasive that decision became. Here was my dilemma: an entree of poached oysters with caviar and a main of stuffed pig's trotter, versus a seven-course mushroom degustation. To make matters worse, our waiter sidled over with a platter of fresh cepes (French for porcini), chantrelles, trompette de la morte and morels, and they released a fragrance that could make you weep"

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "Isis may be housed in a Queenslander with timber floors, but the vibe is decidedly international"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Everything about Isis aims to create a high point in fine dining"

Gourmet Traveller 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide Score: * "Moodily lit and sharp, the dining room at Isis gives offa warm glow, inviting you to melt into the comfortable banquettes and enjoy chef Jason Peppler's food and owner Simon Hill's wine list. Both are outstanding and continually evolving, and neither is likely to let you down."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 "With accolades including Restaurant of the Year 2005, this is a restaurant on an upwardly mobile flight pattern. Owner Simon Hill has carefully steered a course through the difficult set up years into more prosperous times but he never thinks to rest on his success"

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide ** "Isis just gets better with each visit. The highly skilled team led by chef Jason Peppier strives constantly for higher standards and delivers them, seamlessly and unpretentiously, with no evidence of the try-hard element that can sometimes taint dining at this level."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Unquestionably one of the smartest restaurants in town, Isis is a labour of love for owner Simon Hill"

Courier-Mail Nick Bray Bar 31/5/05 "ONE requires an excuse to go to Isis, one of Brisbane's better restaurants, but if you feel you need to justify yourself, there's a new bar in the refurbished "cave" ' downstairs that deserves a visit. It's a small, warm and inviting space, decked out in dark tones and clever lighting that casts a glow over proceedings."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "Head chef Jason Peppier has come of age in this eclectic brasserie, honing his considerable talents and forging an approach of his own that fits somewhere between Michelin-starred French and pared back Mod Oz in terms of style."

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "Over its seven-year lifespan, Isis has been constantly refined and upgraded, and now comfortably sits with Brisbane's best. The seasonal menus reflect classic European influence with dishes"

SMH Good Food Guide & Age GFG 2005 "It's all indoors/outdoors at this polished Brisbane stayer where the windows fold back in balmy weather and the service is even warmer. Isis boasts one of the best menus in town"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 *** "Owner Simon Hill and chef Jason Peppler are a formidable duo, having worked long and hard to create one of Brisbane's top dining spots. Peppler is doing some of his best work yet"

Brisbane News, 18-24/2/04, Alison Walsh,' score 9/10, food-accomplished, wine-exceptional, service-superior, ambience-casual glamour...produce is top class, the cooking spot on and the innovative nature of the food a delight...skilled but not intrusive service, and a good wine list'

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, 2 Red Stars, Excellent wine list,'The term brasserie doesn't really do the place justice as it infers a lack of originality that simply doesn't exist...graceful dishes seem to get better and better. This chef is very young but highly skilled and he's producing classical cuisine that's a perfect fit'

The Courier-Mail, good life, 9/12/03, Kylie Lang,'Young Chef of the Year-Jason Peppler','Peppler's food is refined, experimental yet has a deep regard for the classics. He is a whiz with rich sauces and game meat, and his desserts are to die for.'

Courier Mail, Good life, Dining out, Lizzie Loel, 10/7/02, Score Food 17, Service 18, Ambience 17, Wine 17. "Isis is a restaurant on the ascent. Every visit sees improvement and finesse and the clear and passionate efforts of the young staff."
