Mietta's Review
The smart modern fit-out is all big comunal tables on which to share you spiced dishes from across Asia. Wine comes from the in-house bottle shop (served at bottle shop prices). If you prefer your sustenance in a more liquid form then prop at the bar. You can also sit outside. This is one of the smartest additions to Brisbane's dining scene in recent times. In 06 mains averaged $26.

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 14/20 "Monsoon is a quirky facet of the Hotel Bravo complex. Open only at night, it offers a diverse array of what they call 'Pan-Asian' food"

Brisbane News Tony Harper, 18-7-2007 Score: Food 8, Wine 8, Service 7.5, Ambience 7.5 "visually and in terms of food, is distinctly Asian. The menu is Thai (the Monsoon website reckons there might be some Malay in the mix as well), but beautifully interpreted and modernised. ... The service is polished, easing you into the experience and the quirks of the place. Monsoon is a delightful spot to dine, with all facets a little removed from the ordinary."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "With dark timbers, rainforest greens and beach pebbles, the breezy interior takes its cues from Zen principles"

Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006 * "It's tucked away but atmospheric once you've found yourself at Monsoon in the Central Brunswick complex in the heart of Fortitude Valley. Cool greens, tiles in earthy tones and some contemporary art make this an interesting space in which to immerse yourself"

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "Fusion might be a dirty word, but Monsoon's Chinese and Vietnamese-influenced menu seems to be meeting its mission statement."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Large communal tables at this modern eatery promote a relaxed environment to appreciate Colin Brown's impressive menu."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "Combining a bottle shop, bar and modern Asian eatery complete with large communal dining tables, this is a great spot to come and enjoy a casual collection of bites."

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "Monsoon's chef, Colin Brown, dips into the rice quarter of Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos, with side trips to Japan, offering creative pan-Asian cuisine to corporate diners during the day and Brunswick residents at night."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "Doubtlessly one of Brisbane's most attractively designed restaurants, Monsoon takes its cues from Asia. So does Colin Brown's enormous menu."
