Mietta's Review
Good value eating (during the day) and great drinking (all the time) at this Valley watering hole. Live music, courtyard, a great cocktail list and very reasonably priced simple but well done food. Open late for drinks.

Other published opinions

Courier Mail Anooska Tucker-Evans, 07-9-2008 "AFTER being a finalist for the past few years, Fortitude Valley's Bowery Bar last month finally took out the Australian Gourmet Traveller Bar of the Year award. I've been an occasional patron of this intimate establishment since it opened in October 2003, and a recent visit confirmed why it was worthy of the prestigious title"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 "While 18-year-olds swing their Gucci bags elsewhere, hoping to be seen, more mature bar dwellers are sipping sophisticated cocktails or enjoying a pinot grigio from the small but satisfying wine list at this moody Manhattan-inspired bar"

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 Best bars "atmospheric, with a little courtyard at the back, live music and great cocktails."

Courier Mail Good Life 26/10/04 Nick Bray "THE Bowery, the finest bar in Brisbane as far as this columnist is concerned ... schedule your visit during quieter times: the early evening on a Tuesday or Wednesday for a sundowner; stop in for a three-martini lunch during the week; a pick-me-up bloody mary late Saturday morning works, too."

Courier Mail Good Life 27/7/04 Alison Cotes "The look is Chicago rather than New York, with the fashionably distressed style that characterises that gritty city. Wall cladding is peeled back to display the bricks underneath, there's buckled paint on the tables, retro padded booths and other seating areas. It's a look that goes well with ripped designer jeans, scuffed Docs and woolly pull-down hats. The food is a little less outre than the look"

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "Brisbane's best cocktail bar is the place to be seen in the evening, with colourful types from across the social spectrum packing into the place, but it's a different story during the day. When the sun comes up, The Bowery transforms into one of the Valley's best-value eating spots."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "Don't let the classic New York-style surrounds trick you - the menu has a sharp French influence."
