Mietta's Review
Versace's cafe-style restaurant's chic minimalist design, features an extensive marble and stainless steel bar area and modern deco furniture. It is an idyllic setting, completely open on two sides to the view of the marina and sparkling Broadwater. The menu, overseen by chef Steve Szabo, features modern cuisine at a reasonable price. There is a good range of wines available and service is pleasantly attentive. In 06 mains averaged $29. See also their fine dining establishment Vanitas.

Other published opinions

Gourmet Traveller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide "It might not have the bling-factor of Palazzo Versace's other fine-diner, Vanitas, but there's still a strong possibility that your table-neighbour owns one of those million-dollar yachts moored in the marina"

Brisbane Times Score: 14/20 "Vie might be Palazzo Versace's more casual, sunshiny diner, but that doesn't mean the service is any less polished or deferential"

Courier Mail Anooska Tucker-Evans, 23-2-2008 "THERE are three dining options at the Gold Coast's Palazzo Versace. There's the highly-acclaimed fine dining restaurant Vanitas, the contemporary and classical Il Barocco and the cafe-style restaurant Vie, offering simple food cooked with finesse. On a recent trip to the coast we opted for Vie, enticed by dishes such as garlic buttered king prawns with risoni pasta and wild mushrooms; and pork sirloin with sweet potato and maple puree, baked rhubarb and dijon mustard sauce"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 15.5/20, One Hat "In the role of little sister to Vanitas, Vie has all the advantages of belonging to the Palazzo Versace family, minus the glitz. Sleek and modern is the mantra for both venue and food, and both deliver n spades"

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "Sitting by the Broadwater in the modern surrounds of Palazzo Versace's more casual dining spot, with a classic Gold Coast sunset and a family of dolphins playing happily about 10 metres away, one could argue that it really doesn't matter what the food tastes like"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "This is the more relaxed dining alternative at Palazzo Versace, making the most of its location on the boardwalk and views over the marina and broadwater"

Gourmet Traveller 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide "Vie is an oasis of understated refinement amid the opulence of Palazzo Versace hotel. Its position is simply glorious, peering over the bows of the luxury yachts resting in the Southport Marina, and across the expanse of the Gold Coast Broadwater. As part of the Versace complex, it has all the refinement, quality and attention to detail one would expect, yet it is still modern, accessible and casual."

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide * "As Palazzo Versace's adopted child, Vie has inherited all the best qualities the luxurious hotel has to offer, with none of the fussy trappings. Instead its attitude is crisply contemporary. White linen, stainless steel and glass frame a panorama of the Gold Coast marina"

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 ** "The casual end of dining at the world famous Palazzo Versace, Vie differs in style from the rest of the place but not in quality, which is resoundingly excellent in all areas."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "More understated than Vanitas, Vie still offers professional service, stylishly presented fare and a solid wine list."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "Also in the Palazzo Versace this is a more casual, but no less elegant space overlooking the Broadwater and the marina and its flotilla of luxury craft. The restaurant literally wraps around one corner of the complex and has several different spaces including a bar, dining area complete with high-backed banquettes in earthy tones"

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "The Vie fit-out is a sharp, modern affair of stainless steel and glass, looking out over the Gold Coast marina. Despite its more casual nature, the food and service are in no way inferior to the hotel's fine-dining restaurant."

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 Best views "Vie's terrace provides uninterrupted views of the boardwalk and marina"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "This distinctive space overlooks the marina, with a menu capturing a range of styles and tastes."

Brisbane News 10/04 Natascha Mirosch score 7.5/10 "Sitting at a table between a barefoot yachtie and Dicko from Australian Idol, I didn't know where to place Palazzo Versace's Vie restaurant. Was it smart casual or glam? Upmarket or open to all comers? "

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, 1 Red Star,'Half of the table seating is outdoors, taking advantage of the beautiful water views...The menu focuses on fresh seafood with some clever interpretations...Asian element to an otherwise mostly European-inspired menu...Sleekly groomed staff provide service that is precise but friendly...well-chosen wine list'
