Mietta's Review
If you've been to Cru in James St you know what to expect at Onyx. It's a welcome change to the tackyness of Park Rd. The feeling is good and the cocktails do what they're supposed to. The food, is generous and in 06 mains averaged $24.

Brisbane Times Score: 13/20 "Park Road is still one of the only places in Brisbane's inner-west where you can get a coffee, dessert or drink after 9pm without walking into a pub"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 "Good things come to those who wait, and boy have we been waiting a while for a good wine bar in the heart of cafe society, Park Road"

Courier Mail Anooska Tucker-Evans, 08-9-2007 "ONYX, on Milton's bustling Park Rd, has become one of the inner-city street's hottest spots. Whether it's lunchtime, dinnertime or time for tapas and drinks after work, Onyx is popular with young professionals in Brisbane's inner-west. The open-plan bar and restaurant has an airy vibe, and offers a mix of indoor and outdoor seating from lounges and bar stools to small wooden crates and large tables"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "A French chandelier poised above a lavishly lined onyx bar, rich leather seating and antique gold mirrors combine to create a rich ambience"

Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006 "A rectangular backlit onyx bar with a crystal chandelier hanging above it greets diners at this groovy bar in Milton."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Harry Jackson opened his snazzy venture in late 2004 and quickly attracted a chic crowd loyal to the generous serves of tapas and the contemporary and classic cocktails."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "This new Milton hotspot in the heart of the Park Rd cafe scene bears striking similarities in interior fit-out to the successful Cru in the Valley."

Courier Mail Good Life Lizzie Loel 28/9/04 "On a fleeting visit on a Friday afternoon the place was filled, a sharp looking crowd hopping into the lists of classic, original and newage cocktails. ... it certainly has an open "drop-in" ambience and, with a bit of tweaking and attention to detail on the food, will be a welcome addition to the inner-west side of town."
