Mietta's Review
New Zealander father and son, Stephen and Richard Rickard-Simms are attempting to take Brunswick St by storm. Richard is the chef and his partner Tina and father manage the floor. Their largish restaurant contains it's own stand alone bar and, as the name suggests, is dedicated to the mixing of cuisines. They are serving man-sized portions of well-cooked food. In 2006 mains averaged $25.

Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006 "There's a large casual courtyard out the front and inside the noise is subdued by the trickle of a water feature on one wall. The wine list is a bit predictable with some commercial offerings but the beer is cold and service is prompt and friendly."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "This newcomer offers flavours of the Pacific Rim, with dishes like roasted five spice duck breast"

Brisbane News Natascha Mirosch 17/8/05 "Fusion Restaurant and Bar, one of Fortitude Valley's newest eateries, is a family affair. Chef Richard Rickard-Simms heads the kitchen, while his partner Tina and father Stephen are in charge of the floor. As the name suggests, Fusion is just that - a modern melange of classic Mediterranean and Asian-influenced dishes. ... food: 8 wine: 8 service: 9 ambience: 7 "

Courier-Mail GoodLife Restaurant Lizzie Loel 2/8/05 score Food: 13 Wine: 13 Service: 14 Ambience: 14 "New Zealand-born father and son Stephen and Richard Rickard-Simms have decided to tackle the sometimes fickle New Farm market. Richard is the chef, while father Stephen runs the business. They describe the food as "tastes from the Pacific Rim (with) modern Australian touches"."

Courier-Mail Nick Bray Bar 24/5/05 "All up, Fusion is an attractive bolthole that would probably work best as a spot to build up an appetite before going to dine on some excellent food in the adjoining restaurant."
