Moray CafePh: 3254 1342; 1/ 158 Moray St, New Farm 4005 www.moraycafe.com.au Modern Australian, $ Mietta's Review Other published opinions Courier Mail Alison Cotes, 01-7-2008 Score: Food: 14 Service: 12 Ambience: 14 Value For Money: 15 "THE New Farm eating precinct waxes and wanes in popularity. Some cafes, like the Moray, just keep on going. Chefs come and go, menus get up-dated, and new owners have new ideas, but there it is, nestled under its huge Moreton Bay fig tree, its outside tables sheltered under the same awnings and attracting the same clientele who know that when they're on a good thing they should stick to it. We hadn't been there for a long time, but it was still like going home. The menu is more feisty than I remember, possibly due to chef Byron Aycan, born in Turkey and trained in London. He brings years of international expertise to the laid-back atmosphere of suburban Brisbane" Brisbane Times Score: 13/20 "The Moray is an institution and also a good reason to venture to this side of the river. From the outside it resembles your average Brisbane cafe with windbreakers and a buzzing crowd" Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 "This New Farm institution attracts a large following among the suburb's locals who enjoy relaxing under the branches of the ancient Moreton Bay fig" Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Under an enormous fig tree on a quiet corner that catches the river breezes, this cafe has developed its own personality" Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 "Moray Cafe's new owners Richard Ralph and Yves Aupee have injected a slightly French feel in to their menu with older dishes mixing with new, interesting dishes." Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "This is a New Farm institution to which regulars are Known to drop in for a bite several times in the one week. The broad menu selection, friendly service and buzzy atmosphere give it its appeal." Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "Sunday breakfast under the Moreton Bay fig tree is something of a tradition for locals, but chef Mark Woodward's lunch and dinner menus are becoming increasingly popular."
