Mietta's Review
Chef, David Rayner, left Berado's to open this - his own restaurant. Which was gutted by fire in the middle of 05. He rebuilt and re-opened a couple of months later. The restaurant has an airy feel with louvres to let in the breeze, dark stained floorboards and white walls with the occasional splash of colour. The menu changes with frightening rapidity but most dishes are well conceived and executed. The technique is classical and the flavours various. Good value. It will become an excellent restaurant in time.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 "The daily menu's focus is simple: local produce, preferably organic, and seafood in fresh, clean flavours"

Gourmet Traveller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide "It doesn't enjoy the river orientation of others in town, but the dual-level dining space is eyecatching and buzzy enough, with polished black floors, white walls and banks of louvres"

Brisbane Times Score: 15/20 "It's a simple formula: an emphasis on local produce, preferably organic, seafood hauled from the surrounding waters, fresh, clean flavours and a menu that evolves daily"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 16.5/20, Two Hats "River House may not have the best view of the Noosa River, but it is still one of the best places to eat in the area. English-born chef David Rayner, who has worked in several of London's best restaurants, changes his menu daily to make the most of the local produce"

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "Noosaville, along the banks of the Noosa River, is fast becoming a worthy challenger to Hastings Street, where many restaurants rest on their sea-view laurels"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "This Queenslander has been transformed into a contemporary venue that provides an indoor/outdoor dining experience"

Gourmet Traveller 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide "A daily changing menu is the boast here, guaranteeing the best fresh market produce. Thanks to owner/chef David Rayner's long acquaintance with the Sunshine Coast, the climate is a consideration with light, clean flavours. Salads are raised from run-of-the-mill status with touches of citrus adding zing to crisp, just-picked leaves."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 "The River House was gutted by fire in the middle of 2005 and chef/owner David Rayner wasted no time in picking himself up and re-building his gorgeous bistro with comfortable seating on two levels and a colour palate of soft tones, taupes, beiges and whites."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "The interior is light and fresh with breezes gently filtering through the louvres over the dual-level dining room decorated in earthy tones and muted shades of taupe, chocolate and cane. The small menu is written daily according to Rayner's morning purchases, but the style is always modem and each dish carefully prepared"

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "The decor is white and wood tones with glass louvres that filter in light, salty breezes and perfume from the Chinese star jasmine that climbs the old shopfront pillars. The menu is clipped and changes daily six choices of seasonal fresh seafood and great cuts of meat are simply prepared to enhance rather than mask the quality of the produce."

Courier Mail Goodlife 20/7/04 Lizzie Loel "It's a white-on-white decor and minimal in style but there's plenty of impact once you walk through the large glass doors and up to the small bar on the mezzanine level. ... The menu changes daily but rest assured, if it's beautifully crafted fare made from quality ingredients and great value for money you're after, you won't be disappointed."

Brisbane News 08/04 Natascha Miroschscore 8/10 "River House Restaurant, across the road from the water at Noosaville, is the venture of David Rayner, former chef at Berardo's in Noosa. River House has only been open a few months, but on a recent Saturday night it was buzzing with locals and sunburnt out-of-towners clinking glasses."
