Mietta's Review
Long established (since 1980) restaurant in a lovely setting, with mango trees and a wide verandah. Fine reputation for seafood and the dishes live up to the reputation. Large wine list featuring the best (mostly domestic) range in town. The place fits nicely between the glitz of some in Port Douglas and the casualness of others. In 06 mains averaged $35.

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "A crisp, white-clothed table on Catalina's timber deck is a fine place to be on a balmy evening. The environment is one of tropical civility, with hushed and personable service."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 ** "Catalina owners Ruth and Paul Grischy have been running this lovely Port Douglas restaurant from a Oueenslander, overlooking the beach and Dickson Inlet, for 22 years. The open veranda and large courtyard is shady and cool in summer and a romantic dinner venue at night."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "Its veranda-like terraces overlook a candlelit courtyard that is surrounded by a mature tropical garden. With views to the park and further out to the Dickson Inlet, it's a tranquil spot for a twilight cocktail before a romantic candlelit dinner. The menu is modern Australian"

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "It feels like you're walking into the garden ofan old Queenslander, with a curved tin roof covering wraparound verandas, elevated over the pretty, candlelit courtyard. Owners, Ruth and Paul Grischy are long-term residents of the Port and have run the restaurant for nearly two decades."

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "With its candlelit tables great service and near flawless food, the quiet achiever of Port Douglas offers one of the town's most satisfying epicurean adventures."

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide 2004 Australia,'The courtyard of this Port Douglas institution twinkles with candlelight every evening as diners take their spot in the garden or up on the wide veranda that wraps around the building.A clipped menu lists the best of the local catch...a quality cellar of both current and back vintages'
