Mietta's Review
Huge and popular Chinese restaurant with a strongly Asian clientele. It's essential to book for weekend brunch (and lunch) when some of the best yum cha dishes to be found in Brisbane are served. At other times the a la carte menu offers live seafood and Peking duck.

Other published opinions

Brisbane Times Score: 11/20 "For the uninitiated, yum cha can be a bewildering experience amid a cacophony of ordering, chattering and slurping"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 14/20 "The landmark redefines the meaning of a yum cha queue. On a Sunday it can stretch well out into the carpark - a seeming impossibility considering the vast size of the restaurant - and you need to be either incredibly brash or Chinese and in-the-know to short-cut the process"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "You might queue for up to an hour on weekends, so book your place at this huge restaurant with wood panelling, marble pillars and chandeliers"

Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006 "This is one of those large Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurants that specialises in seriously good duck dishes. Duck with eight treasures, Peking duck and duck with taro are three such options but there's plenty more to this highly organised operation."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "The authentic and plentiful yum cha makes this a popular venue for weekend brunch, so book or be prepared to wait."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "Yum cha here is extremely popular and there's a good reason for that it's very authentic, plentiful and very good. Tanks of live seafood line the entrance foyer and you can choose your obster on the way through."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "Live lobsters are just one of the specialties at this typically expansive Chinese restaurant which caters for lovers of authentic and westernised Asian fare."

Brisbane News, 19-25 Feb 03, Restaurant, Alison Walsh. A vast menu containing the usual Chinese fare of seafood, duck, beef and pork dishes, as well as lamb and chicken. The wine list is comprehensive and so too is the lengthy cocktail menu. NB. This review was during a Chinese New Year Banquet set menu.
