Courier Mail Lizzie Loel, 22-9-2008 Score: Food: 14 Wine: 13 Service: 13 Ambience: 13 "Mao Mao's is the newest West End hot spot occupying the old Spoon site at the roundabout on Boundary St. The restaurant's art forms the colour palate of the place against an industrial-style interior that has several sections as well as a large outdoor dining space. Aluminium refectory chairs add to the look that is very casual outside but, with walls of wine and massive murals within, becomes slightly more formal inside. ... We moved and settled in again to read the menu which lurches from France (baguette with Lescure butter) to China (son-in-law eggs and steamed shellfish gow gee), south to Thailand (firecracker prawns), on to Malaysia (Penang beef curry) over to Italy and then on to Spain (potato and sweet marjoram gnocchi and lobster paella) with a stopover in England for a beef wellington."

Aluminium refectory chairs add to the look that is very casual outside but, with walls of wine and massive murals within, becomes slightly more formal inside. From the name and the design, I was expecting a modern Chinese menu but I was mistaken. We wandered in, asked for a table outside and received the menu, water and wine list promptly as well as a sudden blast of western sun."

Tukka (07) 3846 6333, , 145 Boundry St, West End - If you want to eat native flora and fauna this is the place for you. The setting, having a faintly feral feeling, rather suits the 'bush' menu.

Two Seasons Cuisine (07) 3217 2622, 151 Boundary St, West End - Very smart modern fitout of this large shopfront where eastern food meets western decor.
