Mietta's Review
Chef/owner, Alfredo La Spina, is obsessed with authenticity and in the old Rumi premises he's replicated a cafe from Sicily, his parent's homeland, that is accurate down to the last clear plastic table overlay. The only thing missing are the groups of Sicilian men talking at the bar or smoking. The food on the small well executed menu is exactly what it says it is - no romantic descriptions here. Not that it's an easy list to choose from particularly during a melbourne winter. Prices are low (well under $20) but the dishes are ungarnished which adds another $7. It's good to see someone as commited as Alfredo, the only question is whether it will work in gentrified East Brunswick.

Herald Sun "We're at Bar Idda, a rustic little Sicilian place that's moved into the narrow space vacated by the much lauded: Rumi. Heirloom embroidered tablecloths, plain wooden chairs and a row of marionettes adorning the white walls evoke the sort of simple eatery you might find in the backetreets of Taormina"
