Mietta's Review
Like its Florentine namesake, the Uffizi looks out over a park albeit one created for public promenades and runners rather than an aristocratic family. But owner, Mark Thompson, is seriously dedicated to the art of his cafe. He is particularly obsessive about the quality of the coffee which, despite its addictive qualities (lots of regulars) has a low caffeine content, just 1.7%, he tells us. And if you don't order coffee, you are likely to be asked why. The Uffizi is in a rather isolated position, without much passing traffic so parking is easy. Inside is brightly lit (a bit too bright at night), with polished floorboards, ceiling fans, framed posters of Italian products and a big gold mirror. A large potted palm sits in one corner and a big beautiful bunch of flowers is usually on the bar, an ideal possie to sit and read the papers on your own. Meals at table are good value and served carefully and pleasantly.
