Mietta's Review
Over-looking the Fitzroy Gardens, this traditional European restaurant is presided over by Eric and Barbara Mohr. Eric produces excellent dishes based on his Austrian background. Barbara has first class wine knowledge and offers good advice. Wine dinners are held ten times a year. East Melbourne comfort is provided here.

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 14/20 "This Melbourne institution continues to eschew the never-ending parade of culinary fads in favour of an elegant setting and classic food. In the generously proportioned dining rooms of this Victorian terrace you'll find well-spaced tables gleaming with quality tableware, burnished balloon-backed chairs, elegant drapes and a team of warm yet discreet staff"

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 14/20"In the fickle world of hospitality, any restaurant in its 25th year must be doing something right. Indeed the Mohrs are doing plenty right, starting with their entenschmalz; a mousselike pork amuse-gueule, plus bread and minty olive oil. The decor drips with old-school elegance and is perfect for a special occasion; the menu, however, does move with the times"

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "LE GOURMET is the sort of restaurant you might find in a wealthy Swiss city: immaculate napery, heavy cutlery, gleaming glassware, elegant curtains and chairs built for bankers' bottoms. All this in two large, burgundy-wallpapered, thickly carpeted rooms that allow for well-spaced tables and discreet conversations. Erich Mohr's fine cuisine is French-Austrianinspired"

AGFG 2004, score 13/20, excellent wine list
