Mietta's Review
Women love the Birdman. There are always lots of them there - young or old, big and little they all come. Drawn, one assumes by the casual shopfront, the immediacy of the service staff corralled in their central aisle and the vegetable-heavy, snacky menu that provides 'healthy' combinations which don't need too much cooking. It's sort of breakfast or less all day. The coffee is fine, the wine list is not but you come for coffee anyway. This is one of those places (like Sydney's Bayswater Brasserie) which you visit more often than it deserves. It's safe, it's open and it suits lots of social situations.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Gertrude Street's makeover continues and this newcomer has snared inner-north scenesters with its flowery, candled, dark-wood interior, gracious service and crafty cooking"

The Age Matt Preston, 25-6-2007 "And what a fine breakfast menu it is here in this fearsomely sleek little box of a room with its timber floor, black ceiling, cream and brown walls and wall of padded fabric panels that contrast nicely with the padded banquettes on the other wall. We start with milky quinoa porridge, the little Aztec grains firm and still with some textural integrity; the presence of palm sugar, banana and coconut not overbearing."
