Mietta's Review
A friendly place which has been serving a widespread community of vegetarians and alternative life-stylers for many years. Describing itself as 'non-political vegetarian' but going for balance, it seems to work with plenty of life passing through and taking away too. The Vegetarian Society recommends it for groups. Food geared to the healthier side of vegetarianism.

Moroccan Soup Bar (03) 9482 4240, 183 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North - The decor is straight from the souks and the vegetarian food is owner, Hana Assafiri's, adaptation of Middle Eastern. No alcohol, no cards and no bookings.

Mr Natural Vegetarian Pizza (03) 9481 7775, 469 Brunswick, Fitzroy North - Using only wholemeal flour in the pizza bases, and rennet free cheese for toppings, this vegetarian pizzeria is also in St Kilda (9534 2542).

The Vegie Bar (03) 9417 6935, 380 Brunswick St, Fitzroy - Large and noisy, still one of the most popular vegetarian cafes. Friendly feeling and there's usually something to read if you're alone.
