Mietta's Review
The hippy's are alive and well in Healesville and many of them will be found chilling out at Bodhi Tree where recycling includes the decor. Friendly atmosphere with mountain air warmed by a pot bellied stove. Lots of carbohydrate based snacks and more substantial dishes. Live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Consciousness-raising types sit beneath the tree growing inside this homely bohemian cafe, espousing philosophy and debating politics"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Hippy, dippy and a little bit trippy, Bodhi Tree is ground-central for the New Age leanings of picturesque Healesville. An objet d'art in itself well, there aren't many cafes that have a tree growing through the dining room - it has inventive decor made of forest-found wood, corrugated iron and recycled everything."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 Having wandered Healesville's elm-lined main street, browsing op shops and wine stores, you may find yourself at the east end and in need of nourishment. Enter the Bodhi Tree: a soulful place heated by gas burners in winter and largely open-air in warmer weather.

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "COMMUNE with earth-friendly types - inexorably drawn to the Bodhi's forest-salvaged decor and wood-fired tin drum - and consume comfort food in this local haven."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "It's an unusual place: the wooden benches and chairs in the dining room are salvaged from classrooms and forest floors, trippy paintings dot the walls, and a pot-belly stove radiates warmth from the centre."
