Mietta's Review
Down a bluestone alleyway, misty is a space unto itself - half lunar, half aquatic, the low lighting and large glass vessels filled with coloured water are all very soothing. Friendly bar staff and a relaxed crowd make this a nice place for a drink.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Down a graffiti-covered cobblestone lane that is a mecca for street-art fiends, Misty couldn't help but have an urban-scrawl flavour"

The Age Michael Harden, 7-11-2007 "About nine years ago, Misty Place was knee-weakeningly hip. Not only did it have a laneway location (graffiti-strewn, no less), but it combined good design (miraculously remaining comfortable despite channelling 1970s Kubrick) with a fierce commitment to quality alcohol and a fondness for DJs that blurred the line between bar and club. While it may no longer be front and centre on the scenesters' radar, Misty remains a stylish place for a drink."

The Age Clem Bastow, 18-1-2007 "Misty is one such hidden gem. In fact, on my first visit I walked past it three times before calling my friends "on the inside"for directions, only to turn around and find them laughing uproariously in the window seat. Tucked away halfway up Hosier Lane, Misty's interior is surprising to those who expect all laneway bars to be underground lairs with poor ventilation and low lighting. One of Honkytonks' Michael Delany's projects, Misty is all clean white lines splashed with colour. Said colour comes from the backlit booze shelves; the leather banquettes in a variety of wine tones; a cluster of intricately cut Tord Boontje lampshades that pulsate with light when the rest of the bar's lighting lowers in the wee hours."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 Years on, the formula still works: funky yet comfortable kit-out, a deep attachment to street art, and a relatively suit-free haven

theage (melbournemagazine) bars Melinda Houston oct 05 "An early work by Michael "Honkytonks" Delany (and half-a-dozen of his arty mates), Misty opened with a "no-ties" policy on Friday nights to insulate itself from the business brigade and encourage Flinders Lane's creative crowd. Years on, the formula here still works"
