Mietta's Review
Postal Hall was made up by Cafe Racer's Danny Colls (who has since sold it) at the ground level of the Hero Apartment Buildings, the site of the old Australia Post headquarters. And it brings to inner city workers and residents, reliable, good quality coffee, friendly service and a fresh, healthy array of breakfast and lunchtime dishes at prices and in quantities that are sure to please. The cafe itself is light and uncluttered with tables set out in the marbled outdoor area.

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "From designer threads to designer breads, the old Australia Post HQ is now cafe-style haute couture"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "You won't find any off-the-rack standards - in the food, or the couture of the designconscious business folk - at lofty Postal Hall. Well-crafted dishes are done simply and made with top-notch ingredients."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 If you need final proof that Melbourne has shrugged off its potato cake past, look no further than Postal Hall. Part of the Hero Building project, this once-dreary post office has been restamped as a postmodern cafe.

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "THE postal centre is dead, replaced by a dead sexy cafe. Jazz trickles through a concreteglass space, where designer-stubbled architecture students sip soy lattes and flick through cool er-than-thou street mags, or gaze at sensuous black-and-white photographs."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004,Good vegetarian dishes,Somewhere we highly recommend,'No matter what the hands say on the 1939 clock overhead,it's always coffee time at Postal Hall. The espresso hiss is a constant at this sunny metro cafe at the base of the Hero apartments.A glass cabinet is stacked with big crusty rolls'

Herald Sun, Citystyle,4/5/04,Donna Coutts,Score 15/20,'it's a pleasant place to be.And that's why it's packed....Good for a seat and a sandwich.'

The Age, Sunday Life, Eat Streets, John Lethlean, 29/6/03. "Several of Melbourne's best chefs live in the Hero Apartments, and this is their 'local' - Hero's Postal Hall. Proprietor Danny Colls is to coffee what Bill Granger is to scrambled eggs."

Sunday Herald Sun, sunday magazine, eating out, 2003, Sally Fisher. A very friendly atmosphere and geneorus serves. "They (the owners) were farmers, which explains why they're so chipper at 7.30am"
