Mietta's Review
A great place to relax, have a beer, a good meal. The decor is a comfortable mix of retro and kitsch. The staff are helpful and friendly. Whilst food is a little bit more expensive then your average pub, mains $10-18, its quality and the added bonus of being able to watch sumo wrestling on television make it worthwhile.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "You can tell a lot about a pub by its carpet. Once plush, then sticky, then pocked with ciggie burns, the Town Hall's carpet has been worn smooth by generations of undergrads, crusty musos and locals who bought when the suburb was working-class"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "How rock 'n' roll can you get? At breakfast massive pancakes come with bacon and maple syrup and the cheery staff encourage a bourbon chaser. At night, an unpretentious crowd mills beneath the religious iconography in the dining room or swills alfresco in the beer garden."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 This grungy old boozer is a North Melbourne classic, popular among the 30-something live music crowd. Meals can be ordered in the smoky front bar eerily illuminated by children's bedlamps, but most diners head for the pokey bistro adorned with kitsch religious prints.

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "There are big burgers, vegie lasagne, nachos, blue-eye, steaks and apple crumble on the board; Muddy Waters, MC5 and the Kinks on the stereo. Scuzzy and downbeat (in a good way)"
