The Age Matt Preston, 19-8-2008 "The owners, who previously worked for Pearl and Lamaro's, Terry Strudwick and Benjamin Canavan, took over 18 months ago and amped it up as a cafe while maintaining its local shop role with a few shelves of groceries and large fridges full of take-home meals. Hidden down a tiny cul de sac, the surprise is how, after entering through a tiny terrace crammed with a couple of tables, the room opens up. Inside, the low-ceilinged space has a happy air of chaos about it, with racks of mags and blackboards declaring changing lunch choices. At lunch, baby capsules and laptops jostle for table space and later there may be Lego blocks strewn across the floor."

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Hidden away in a teeny-tiny street, cute LGS is the epitome of 'a local place, for local people'"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Locals come for the paper and a hit of organic coffee. Others nab a seat at one of the communal tables, ready for breakfast. There's ricotta pancakes slathered with tangy lemon curd or, for lunch, steaming chicken and corn soup."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 Locals will surely be upset that we've spread the word, for this old-world neighbourhood cafe is their secret. Grab a seat at the communal table ... The tiny kitchen also pumps out take-home meals such as corned beef and creamy mash, and there's a small range of groceries available

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 Hidden Treasures "Deep in the backstreets of South Yarra, this little gourmet cafe sells meals made from organic ingredients, as well as milk bar essentials such as bread, eggs and newspapers."
