Mietta's Review Despite the ever changing landscape of restaurants and cafes in Acland Street, Chinta Ria Soul remains unchanged and a firm favourite amongst St Kilda's never ending throng of the hungry. Its Malaysian Hawker style menu is similar to that of it's sister restaurants Chinta Blues (down the other end of Acland Street) and Chinta Ria Soul. The food is freshly prepared and wholesome with the odd deep fried delight! The casual cafe atmosphere and the soul tunes playing make you feel right at home. This is not a destination restaurant, but great for eating on your way to or from an event.

The Foodies' Guide,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'These Malaysian temples of good food are so good that everything on the menu is fantastic;the laksa,of course,or the more unusual hot'n'sour noodle soup.Try the chilli fish, vegetarian mah poh tofu, sambal bilis and fried whitebait with chilli.'
The Age, SundayLife, 20/8/2000 ,Best Noodles - 'Offers the best curry laksa this side of Kuala Lumper, a big bowl of creamy coconut broth, chicken, fish cake, green beans, bamboo shoots, fried tofu with vermicelli and hokkien egg noodles.'
The Age, Epicure, 2.5.00, cheap eats 2000, 'Ten treats under $10'. 'Curry laksa $8.50, the best laksa, how do I know, I've been slurping this great malaysian soup at chinta ria for 15 years, but I occasionally come up for air. It's a bowl brimming with chicken beans fried tofu fish cake vermicelli and egg noodles in the creamiest cocunt broth with the right amount of chilli.'
