Mietta's Review
Over looking Torquay's foreshore and set in a rambling California Bungalow, Growlers is the place to be seen on the Bellarine Peninsula. Formerly a Mexican restaurant, and recently bought and made over by Sale of the Century favourite, Nikki Buckley and partners, it takes full advantage of its situation. A bar-cum-cafe the seats on the front decking are the most popular affording views over the sands into the ocean. The food is fresh and well prepared, and the wine list well priced.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "This beachside fave has a broad following, from surf ie dads dining with their young tearaway's latest lady friend to morningafter folk breakfasting on Red Bull and big vegie breakfasts with hash browns and house-made beans"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Kick back and take in foreshore views while tucking into kicker coastal fare. Growlers' menu has a whiff of world flavours from India to Italy: on offer might be a well-spiced tandoori chicken, Turkish toastie or tender spiced lamb rendang roti wrap with sticky rice, yoghurt and chutney."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 Some places just have it. Growlers is one of them. There's an unhurried beachy vibe about the service, but whether you're sitting inside or out you'll be well looked after. Evenings tend to sneak outside Cheap Eats budget

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 "Watching weekenders frolic on the foreshore from the balcony, you could be excused for forgetting about the rest of the world. But the menu brings the world to your table"

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "THIS casual quaffery is a good bet on a sunny day, when you can sii on the veranda and sniff the sea breeze."

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "GROWLERS is that perfect seaside restaurant, where you could amble in from the beach in your sand-crusted thongs, or get togged up for a special occasion. Either way you'll be rewarded with imaginative meals"

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "YOU can funk out to disco, catch the ocean vistas and enjoy some great food in this bright space. Breakfast and lunch fall within reach of the cost-conscious."

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'Perfect for beach bums and anyone who likes casual dining with a good buzz.Flavours gallop over the world and are well executed.'
