Mietta's Review
Good food and well priced local wines are brought together in this modern complex set in the idyllic landscape of the Yarra Valley. The service is friendly and efficient. Billing itself as a showcase for what the Yarra Valley can offer, Yering Station tries hard and is worth a visit.

Other published opinions

Gourmet Traveller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide "Yering Station's open-plan showpiece - architecturally curving planes, water features and million-dollar views across paddocks to the nearby ranges - is a well-established feature on the Yarra Valley touring circuit, which can make dining here an aurally challenging occasion"

Age Good Food Guide 2008 "With its sweeping hilltop position and imposing architecture, this feels more like a cathedral to wine than a popular restaurant"

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "It touts itself modestly as a 'wine bar restaurant' but this dining room doesn't otherwise hide its light"

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 13/20 "Yering Station's huge open-plan restaurant is the winery's modern show-piece, with a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows capturing the multimillion-dollar view. Casual diners create a lively hubbub, their chatter bouncing off the slate floor. Service is smiley, and Colin Swalwell's menu is exciting and ambitious."

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 score 14/20 "THE views from this impressive modern dining room are more than matched by Colin Swalwell's beautifully crafted food. He pushes the envelope - literally - with a raviolo' in which slices of cured wild salmon encase spiced carrot mousse."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "IT feels rather naughty to be at Yering Station's wine cellar, admiring a bold merlot, then suggesting you head upstairs to get better acquainted in the cosy environs of Matt's Bar, with its velvet couches and wood fire. Your new companion might enjoy teaming up with a few mezze-style dishes"

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'Big,glassy and modern, this winery-restaurant offers the best views over the vineyard and valley from any country restaurant, and contemporary Australian food superbly executed. The food may be a tad fussy, however it is well accessorised and designed to match the house wines.'

AGFG 2004, score 14/20, excellent bar, restaurant attached to a winery
