Mietta's Review
Black Tom has left Hay St for the more salubrious climes of West Perth. The black painted building with its red tiled internal walls, white plastic tables and red, white and black chairs have effortlessly slipped into this comfortable neighbourhood. The garden roof easily encloses three full grown plain trees, flower filled fountains and the smart clientele. Altogether a pleasant place in which to take Warren Mead's oysters. Same prices, food and service as the rest of the empire.

Other published opinions

Sunday Mail Gail Williams, 08-5-2009 Score: 12/20 "The pall of both characters casts a heavy mantle over the restaurant, despite an extensive and overdue refurbishment and new owners Brent and Fiona Pollard. The Pollards - who are from the UK - decided to keep the name and the chef, Aaron Snart. ... The Pollards aim for a London bar feel and the food is aimed at that market: simple, straightforward and very masculine pub favourites. Sausage and mash, fish and chips, grilled fillet steak and steak and mushroom pie."

West Australian Daile Pepper, 22-02-07 Score: 16/20 "It's boom town, boom time and the power lunch is back. Executives, cashed-up bogans and anyone in between think nothing of running up a nice fat bill at one of the city's premier lunching joints during the middle of a working weekday. While many of the population sweat it out doing hard yakka or stay stuck packed inside an office squashed together like a bunch of sardines, these people are living it up, supposedly making business decisions while sipping a delicious glass of wine. On a Wednesday lunchtime, Black Tom's Oyster Bar was nearly full, mostly with men in shirts and ties enjoying a meal with other men in shirts and ties."
